2016 Grant Recipients

Bee City
Hominy Creek Greenway Native Pollinator Project will plant an educational pollinator garden near the Sand Hill Road entrance. The garden will feature labeled native plants as well as interpretive signs about native bees, butterflies, and birds.

Falconhurst Back Forty
The Falconhurst/Back 40 Community, in conjunction with Urban Patchwork Farms, intends to create a Farm Stand for the local community. Grant will be used to retrofit an existing shed, landscape around it, and create beautiful signage

OWL Bakery, 295 Haywood Rd.
Grant will be used to for compost, tools, seeds, and plants to beautify the corner of Haywood with herbs and trellising for pole beans and nasturtiums.

Prime Mortgage Lending, 862 Haywood Rd.
Edible garden plots will be developed in front of the business on Haywood Road near Sulphur Springs Road. Community involvement will be encouraged and they hope to donate extra veggies to a local shelter or soup kitchen.

Falconhurst Community Garden
Falconhurst Community Garden will replace tools to be used by community members, such as garden spades, pitchforks, trowels and clippers

Firestorm, 610 Haywood Rd.
The WAGS grant will assist in renovating the corner of State Street and Haywood Road, in collaboration with Youth Mission Co and Kairos West.

Salola Carrier corner beautification
Neighbors will beautify the corner of Carrier Street and Salola Street with a bench and ring of blueberries and other plantings.

Urban Orchard Cider Co. and Bar, 210 Haywood Rd.
Grant will assist with the beautification of the area along Haywood Road in front of Urban Orchard with edible landscaping.
