2023 Seed Grant Recipients

·         Sand Hill Flower Stand/Kimberly Hoovey: Since 2022 Kimberly has been offering free flowers to her neighborhood through a flower stand outside her house on Sand Hill Rd. Funding provided for seeds and expansion of the stand to include free vegetables and more native pollinators.

·         Sunny Point Cafe Garden/Alice Oglesby: Funding for new native, shade-tolerant plants and new signage in the area adjacent to State Street and the perimeter planting area along the south side of the garden, including signage to help visitors learn about pollinators, habitats, and sustainable gardening.

·         Malvern Hills Pollinator Garden Renovation/Beth Gurnak: In collaboration with GreenWorks and the NC Arboretum, Beth is renovating the pollinator garden at Malvern Hills Park and developing a curriculum for school children. Funding provided for permanent markers for 27 plants, including QR codes that provide information on the plants.
