2026 Seed Grant Recipients

Hall Fletcher Farm Stand – FEAST Program at Hall Fletcher Elementary School

This project will build a farm stand to share produce from the school garden with school staff and families as well as neighbors and the broader community. It’s

a collaborative project with the construction and building sciences classes at Asheville High School through A-B Tech, who will build and install the farm stand.

Florida Ave Pocket Park, 15 Florida Avenue – RiverLink

Hood Huggers and the Burton Street Community Association are partners with RiverLink in developing this quarter-acre parcel into a welcoming, natural park space. They have been working for a few years to remove invasives and plant natives. This project continues the work by replacing English Ivy with native shrubs.

Seeds of Solidarity Community Garden

Seeds of Solidarity, a project of the Asheville Tool Library, operates a free seed library and is building a community garden. The garden will provide free organic food grown in a large hoop house, and will offer an opportunity for community members to grow and harvest food alongside volunteers. The group also plans to host workshops on gardening, food sovereignty, and ecology.

Sand Hill Flower Stand, 50 Sand Hill Rd

This stand has been in use for 3-4 years. Besides offering flowers, veggies and herbs in the summer, in the off-season it becomes a community pantry with groceries, hygiene supplies, winter clothing, Narcan, and other items. The homeowner will further expand it with a new garden bed where folks can pick veggies. She also plans to upgrade the stand to include a weather-proof area for pantry items year-round.
